Andrew Hopper QC is a solicitor Silk, still a rare species; he was the fifth solicitor advocate to be appointed Silk and the first outside the City of London. He has specialised in the field of professional regulation and discipline, principally of solicitors but also of other professionals, for 30 years. He has been described in Chambers as “the oracle of all things relating to solicitors’ disciplinary proceedings”. He is co-author with Gregory Treverton-Jones QC of the Solicitor’s Handbook 2008 and 2009. He is an editor of Cordery on Solicitors, was an editor of the last edition of the Law Society’s Guide to Professional Conduct, is a consultant editor to Halsbury’s Laws of England, a contributor to Butterworths Guide to the Legal Services Act 2007, and the cases editor of the Legal Compliance Bulletin. He is a member of the Regulatory Affairs Board of the Law Society and chair of the Regulatory Processes Committee. |
